Thorpe Moeckel
Thorpe teaches at Hollins University and lives in and explores the wilds of western Virginia, often with his children. Awarded a 2011 NEA Fellowship in poetry, his fourth collection, Arcadia Road: A Trilogy, was published in fall 2015 by Etruscan Press. A nonfiction book, Watershed Days, was published in spring 2015. Susan B. Anderson
Susan lives in Madison, Wisconsin, where she and her son run Barrett Wool Co. (barrettwoolco.com). Susan has authored six knitting books, offers three Craftsy workshops, and for the past ten years has written her mostly knitting blog at susanbanderson.blogspot.com. Susan’s favorite part of her knitting career is being a knitting teacher and meeting knitters from all over the world.
Simone Miller
Simone is considered an expert in gluten-free and Paleo recipe development after two decades as a restaurant and special diets catering chef. Her blog, zenbelly.com, is a source of tried-and-true recipes ranging from basic to extravagant. She is the author of The Zenbelly Cookbook, The New Yiddish Kitchen (with coauthor Jennifer Robins), and Paleo Soups and Stews.
Rachel Jepson Wolf
Rachel Jepson Wolf is the owner and founder of LuSa Organics (lusaorganics.com), a body care company specializing in herbal balms, soaps, and baby care. Rachel and her husband, Pete, homeschool their two kids in rural southwestern Wisconsin. Rachel is the author of two books: Herbal Adventures, a wildcrafting book for kids and their families, and The Unplugged Family Activity Book a treasure trove of offline fun. Phoebe Wahl
Phoebe grew up unschooled in Washington state and credits her 'free range' childhood for much of her inspiration and work ethics. She graduated from RISD in 2013 and makes everything from tiny paintings to giant puppets. Her work revolves around themes of comfort, nostalgia and connection to nature and one another. Meredith Winn
Meredith is a photographer and freelance writer. She weaves stories from truth and optical illusions from images. Balancing the digital world with slow photography, she is happiest in her darkroom creating tintypes from silver and light. Meg divides her creative energy among fiber work, photography, parenting, and writing. She loves to marvel at the world alongside her three unschooled children, and fills their days with adventures in North Carolina nature as well as art, books, and family music jams. Maryanne Moodie
Maryanne is a fiber-obsessed maker from Australia who now resides in Brooklyn, New York. Maryanne is best known for applying unexpected color combinations to her nostalgic designs. Lisa Congdon
Fine artist and illustrator Lisa Congdon is best known for her colorful abstract paintings, intricate line drawings, pattern design & hand lettering. She works for clients around the world including the MoMA, Harvard University, Martha Stewart Living, Chronicle Books, Simon & Schuster, and Random House Publishing, among many others. She exhibits her work around the country, including in shows at the Contemporary Jewish Museum and Bedford Gallery in California. A selection of her works are currently available through New York’s Uprise Gallery. Lisa writes a popular daily blog about her work, life and inspiration called Today is Going to be Awesome. She is the author of six books, including the starving-artist-myth-smashing Art Inc: The Essential Guide to Building Your Career as an Artist, and illustrated books The Joy of Swimming, Fortune Favors the Brave, Whatever You Are, Be a Good One, Twenty Ways to Draw a Tulip and A Collection a Day. Kirsten K. Shockey
Kirsten K. Shockey is the coauthor, with her husband, Christopher Shockey, of The Big Book of Cidermaking; Miso, Tempeh, Natto & Other Tasty Ferments; Fiery Ferments; and the best-selling Fermented Vegetables. Books that came from their desires to both help people eat in new ways, both for the health of themselves and the planet. They got their start in fermenting foods over twenty years ago on a 40-acre hillside smallholding which grew into their local organic food company, Kirsten realized that her passion lay in the wish to both teach people how to ferment and push this culinary art to new flavors. She leads experiential workshops worldwide and online helping people to make, enjoy and connect with their food through fermentation.
