Sara Rubinstein
Sara Rubinstein is a photographer based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She has been shooting campaigns for a diverse client roster for over nineteen years. When not on set, you will find Sara with a manual Leica rangefinder, still creating images for her personal series documenting her travels throughout South America, haunted islands, and the low country of South Carolina, where she was raised.
Sasha Duerr
Sasha Duerr is an artist and designer who works with plant-based palettes, natural dyes, and place-based recipes. She is a professor at the California College of the Arts with a joint appointment in textiles and fine arts, where she designs curriculum and teaches courses in the intersection of natural color, slow food, slow fashion, and social practice. Her work has been shown in galleries and museums across the U.S. and abroad.
Amy Goetzman
Amy Goetzman lives in the woods of Minnesota with her family. When she’s not writing, she’s cutting buckthorn, making syrup, and excavating an old farm dump on her property.
Kathleen Garvey
Kathleen Garvey is a lifelong artist, writer, cook, gardener, and swimmer; also a wife, mom, and grandmother. She is a Mount Holyoke College graduate with a degree in studio art and art his- tory. For twenty years she has worked on a small family farm in Massachusetts. Participating in a Bay Path College writing group, she’s completed two rough drafts for books, which are hidden under her bed. One is a collection of essays that focus on food and family.
Kristy Cunnane
Kristy Cunnane lives in the woods of rural Maine on a long old road called Happytown. She spends most of her time teaching at a small Waldorf school in Blue Hill, where her days are full of lively children. She also works as an illustrator and book artist connecting art with community. And she loves to cook.
Lynn Karlin
Lynn Karlin, originally from NYC, moved to the coast of Maine in 1983. She is an award-winning commercial and fine art photographer whose gardens, food, and interiors have appeared in Country Living magazine, House Beautiful, New York Times Magazine, Coastal Living, Design New England, Garden Design, and Zest magazine as well as in galleries worldwide.
Kathryn Kellogg
Kathryn Kellogg is the founder of GoingZeroWaste.com, a spokesperson on plastic-free living for National Geographic, and author of the forthcoming 101 Ways to Go Zero Waste, which breaks down eco-friendly, sustainable living into an easy step-by-step process with lots of positivity and love. It’s currently available for preorder.
Sarah Waldman
Sarah fell in love with food while playing “cooking show” with her little sister in the 1980s. Now she spends her time being a mother, food writer, and recipe developer. As a health-focused home cook, Sarah develops and offers recipes for simple, whole-food meals appropriate for every member of the family. Sarah's work has been featured in Real Simple, Edible Vineyard, Food52, The Coastal Table, and Parents Magazine. Sarah lives on Martha’s Vineyard with her husband and two boys. Her cookbook, Feeding a Family: A Real-Life Plan for Making Dinner Work, hit the shelves in 2017.
Rachel Jepson Wolf
Rachel Jepson Wolf is the owner and founder of LuSa Organics (lusaorganics.com), a body care company specializing in herbal balms, soaps, and baby care. Rachel and her husband, Pete, homeschool their two kids in rural southwestern Wisconsin. Rachel is the author of two books: Herbal Adventures, a wildcrafting book for kids and their families, and The Unplugged Family Activity Book a treasure trove of offline fun. Rachel McDonald
Rachel grew up outside of Washington, DC, but after moving to Maine for college, she never looked back. Graduating with degrees in Visual Arts and Art History, Rachel moved to Portland, Maine where she has worked with a variety of arts organizations for the last five years. Having recently joined the Taproot team, Rachel is excited to learn more about the editorial world and delve into her love for great food, creative projects, and community. In her spare time Rachel can be found working on her own paintings, lounging at one of Portland's many independent coffeeshops, or exploring the beautiful beaches, coastline, parks, and trails that Maine has to offer.
Molly Reeder
Molly Reeder is an illustrator and a baker with a deep love for travel and the ocean. Currently living on Maui, she has been a nomadic baker and artist living in New Orleans, Australia, New Zealand, Charlottesville and Bulgaria. Her work focuses on food, environment and community, looking to strengthen our relationships to the earth and to each other. Her love for food and plants is illustrated in both her art and also her floral adorned cakes and pastries. And, she strives to make meaningful connections in both of these areas.
Michele Graham
Michele Graham grew up on a farm in the rolling hills of upstate New York, but has spent most of her life on the West Coast. Michele is a photographer, writer, and bookkeeper in Portland, Oregon, where she lives with her husband and daughter. She loves researching American foodways, cocktails, and plants.
