Made in Maine from recycled cherrywood, each bookmark is ready to accompany you on your literary adventures, or help mark progress on your learning and work. The making of these beauties starts with the selection of just the right piece of hand grade cherry wood. They are then cut to size, sanded, and coated in a biodegradable oil that accentuates the grain and rich color of the wood as well as creating a smooth surface. Finally, the bookmarks are laser cut. This custom set, designed exclusively for Taproot, includes three bookmarks, each featuring one of our favorite “taproots” - the dandelion, beet, and carrot.

Meet the Maker: Wood Wizard Maine
Michael Nichols is the wizard behind Wood Wizard Maine. For thirty years, he has taken wood ends from a Maine furniture maker and given them new life in the form of affordable, useful art. Each product takes shape, selected is the right piece of high grade cherry wood. Then cut to size and sanded each in a multi-step process until each has a wonderful, smooth surface. Then applied a biodegradeable oil finish to accent the grain and rich color of the wood and, finally, cut the individual design with my laser.
