Meet the Maker ~ Jess Teesdale
Jess Teesdale lives in Portland, Maine with her husband and three children. Jess’s primary goal is to create aesthetically pleasing, modern functional handmade ceramics. Now that her children are getting older, Jess can focus a bit more time and energy in her production work. In 2011, Jess began designing a line of mugs and tableware as well as necklaces. The first item developed was her popular woodland mug. With inspiration and repetition the mug line expanded and the imagery continues to build. All of Jess’s pottery is produced to feel comfortable in your hands. The color schemes are chosen as a retreat from the typical browns and earth tones that traditional pottery can be known for. Jess chose monochromatic greens and blues with black and white to help enhance the colors. These colors are soothing and her inspiration is drawn from the natural world: lakes, oceans, sky, and spring time plants coming to life.
