Emmet lives in Western Massachusetts, where he and his wife and two daughters run the Pieropan Christmas Tree Farm, a sixty-year-old grove of coppiced balsam. The remainder of the year is spent editing scientific manuscripts, teaching scything workshops, and making wooden spoons and binding notebooks for the sister business to the farm, Anchor Goods. When he isn’t forgetting to open up the chickens in the morning, he can be found on the front porch, carving knife in hand.
