Shipping Information

SUBSCRIPTIONS: The first issue of a subscription will mail out within 3 weeks of the order being placed. Delivery time is then dependent on the speed of the postal service with US orders usually arriving 1-3 weeks thereafter and International orders arriving 6-8 weeks thereafter.

GIFT SUBSCRIPTIONS: If you have purchased a gift subscription, trust that the address you entered during the ordering process is the one that we mail the order to. Please disregard the shipping address below. Unfortunately, our web store is not terribly good at conveying this information accurately to you, but be assured that it does give those of us responsible for shipping magazines the information we need to make sure they arrive in the right place.

TAPROOT GOODS AND BACK ISSUES: These mail out within two business days. Delivery time is then dependent on the postal service with US orders usually arriving 5-10 days thereafter and International orders arriving 14-21 days thereafter.

GENERAL INFO ABOUT MAGAZINE MAILING: In order to mail as a periodical, which provides us preferential rates and shipping times, we must conform to the Post Office's requirements. This can, among other things, delay the mailing of the first issue of a subscription as we must collect enough subscriptions to make a batch to mail at these rates. We are truly sorry for this, but our hands are tied.

MISSING MAGAZINE: Please be in touch within four weeks if you have not received your subscription issue in the above timeline. Be sure to let us know if you have moved. Taproot is not responsible for issues shipped to old or incorrect addresses. 

What items qualify for return?

Items from Taproot Goods, Magazine and Print Shop qualify for returns, excluding sale items.

Unfortunately, due to the limited-run nature of our Popup Shops (Holiday and other), items categorized in this area of the website are
Only regular priced items may be refunded, unfortunately sale items cannot be refunded.

Please contact us via phone or email to receive a return authorization prior to shipment.

How long do I have to return items that qualify for return?

We need to receive your return 30 days after the date of shipment of the item to you. If 30 days have gone by since your item was shipped,
unfortunately we can’t offer you a refund or exchange.
To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase.

You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a
refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.

Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you, may vary.

For exchanges in advance of product return, we will require payment for the new product and shipping (if applicable).
You will be credited for the returned merchandise within 5 days of its arrival at our warehouse.
Please be aware that it can take 1-3 days for the credit to post to your account.

If you are shipping an item over $75, you should consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We don’t guarantee that
we will receive your returned item.

What about magazine subscriptions? Can I cancel?

You may cancel your subscription at any time before your final issue. The refund amount will be based on the following schedule:
After 1 Issue, the subscription price less the cover price + cost of shipping a single issue.
After 2 Issues, the subscription price less the cover price * the number of issues mailed.

All refunds will be issued via PayPal.


Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify
you of the approval or rejection of your refund. If your return is approved, then your refund will be processed.

International Shipping Disclaimer

The recipient is the importer of record and as such is responsible for assuring the product(s) they purchased can be lawfully imported to the destination country and must comply with all laws and regulations of said country. The customer is also responsible for payment of all levied sales tax, duties and customs charges, which are determined and enforced by local governments and vary by country. Duties, taxes and/or customs fees are an additional amount collected upon delivery of your order and we are unable to provide you with an estimate of those fees. Please contact your local government for specific details. Your order confirmation details only the amount collected by Taproot Magazine. By completing your order you agree to pay all applicable fees. If you refuse or return your order, no international shipping charges or fees paid to local governments will be refunded. We will refund the original purchase price of the product if the returned/refused goods arrive back to our Portland, ME, address in original condition.
