Shelley Lawrence Kirkwood is an artist, freelance photographer, and food writer. Kirkwood has divided most of her adult life between the divergent landscapes of Tucson, Arizona, and New England. Her art practice, rooted in a practice of foraging and still life work in her studio, serves to embellish ostensibly small, ephemeral, and insignificant aspects of the landscape as a means of exploring themes of home, memory, and time. Her work has appeared in many publications, including the Boston Globe, Orion, Desert Leaf, and Edible Baja Arizona. She has exhibitions upcoming at Dedee Schattuck gallery in Westport Massachusetts, and La Grua Center in Stonington, Connecticut., at the Tucson Botanical Gardens in Arizona, as well as at the Royal Horticultural Society's photography exhibition in London.
